I disassembled the lock mechanism of my 28 year old Andersen French Door and found that the small spring that forces the latch to protrude has broken. Called Andersen and their solution is to replace the entire locking mechanism for over $200. Looking out, right door is stuck with deadbolt and 2 shoot bolts stuck in locked position, i turn the lock from the inside and it keeps clicking as i turn but doesn't release. On the left of the french doors I can release the shoot bolts but not the deadbolt. I don't have a key for the right door (only side with a key slot on the outside).
